Milton to Franklin, Kentucky (Flying J). A long, long drive! Travelled through 23F temperature, but mostly it ranged between 28F and 30F.
We were planning on stopping in Monroe, Michigan because of our late start from Milton.
But….we were so anxious to get out of the snowy, cold weather, we just kept on goin’.
Temperature when we entered the RV here was 39F—Brrrrr!
Going to grab a couple of hours sleep and then our plan is to make it to Montgomery, Alabama by tomorrow night.
Another Flying J stop over.
Jim checked the propane this morning before leaving for work.
Had one full tank.
Furnace was still operating, second tank was still full.
Worked late tonight.
Finally made it home.
Jim checked the propane.
We are out.
Station closes at 10pm.
It is 9.49pm.
Usually takes at least 14 minutes to get to the station.
It took us 9 minutes.
The prospect of freezing all night (not to mention the RV pipes freezing) sure makes the truck go fast!
Jim sent me in–said I might have more luck begging.
Begged the attendant to open door and give us propane.
He took pity on us.
Was it because we are such good customers (spent a fortune so far this winter) or did we look as panicked as we felt?
Came back.
Hauled tank from truck to RV.
So cold! But…..
warm all night.
Not having fun yet!
Sewer pipe\hose froze yesterday. It is now in pieces in the garbage. I had to buy a new one. This time I emptied the sewer and then stored the new hose in the basement until needed again. Each day is a new learning experience. Fun.
Five to six inches of snow overnight! With the long handled scrub brush, I cleared a path around Ms E to access the propane, water, sewer etc. I guess I will have to buy a snow shovel–have not needed one in over 7 years (living in a condo). ![]()
We tried to bring the slide in to remove the snow from the covers, but the wet snow was just too heavy. I will need a longer ladder to remove it by hand!
This is the pits!!
Slide cover-kitchen large slide–was filled with ice about 3 inches thick. I poured warmed windshield washer fluid onto the ice at each end hoping to separate the ice slab from the cover. It worked!! About 2 hours later I managed to remove the ice piece by piece.
Though I don’ think I have ever had such cold hands..
